Learning from DYEA
DYEA in 2009 years gave me an exciting and wonderful opportunity.
Today, information technology became popular and it overflows in our daily life, and it is easy to think that we know many things as knowledge. I thought I learnt nature and environment to some extent by attending university lecture and getting information from PC. However, DYEA taught that I knew so little about Japanese environment where we live. I didn’t know that we could drink water of Lake Biwa, people lived in Oki island, and Mt. Fuji had sweet white stone….
It was pity that there should have been a few Japanese participants. Although you hesitate to participate in the 2-week training program during the semester, it is worthy to take part in DYEA. It will not be a great loss to miss this chance for those who are interested in the environment. After finishing this program, I hope more people will join our network spread over the Asia.

Learning from DYEA
DYEA is the greatest thing that happened to me this year. Participating in the program, I get to not only learn the Japanese examples of environmental initiatives, but also go into the pristine nature, feel it, and experience it, at first-hand. More importantly, thanks to DYEA, I was blessed for life, with fellow young people who are energetic and more than willing to make a difference for our planet earth. Now, the program has ended, but it is not exactly the end; it is in fact a beginning. We have gone back to our home countries and are translating what we have learned into action. Of course, it is not so easy, but we will never give up because the inspiration gained in DYEA will continue to nurture our enthusiasm; and more importantly, we are not alone, our friends will always be there to cheer us up. Despite the far distance, friendship is borderless. This is what DYEA has taught me. Having been blessed with friends and gained exceptional environmental knowledge as well as experience, DYEA is the greatest thing that happened to me this year.

Learning from DYEA
DYEA had opened an opportunity for me to learn and to gain more knowledge regarding the lesson learned and environmental issues through the eyes of the people in Japan. Visits to Mt. Fuji, Sengen-taisha (Shrine of Mt. Fuji), the Yuno area, Lake Biwa, Lake Hayazaki were only the few places that we visited. The places and its activities have not only made me more nearer to the nature but it has also taught me how to appreciate it. What impressed me the most was our visit to Lake Hayazaki and we had a meeting with the people involved in the "Restoration Project of Lake Hayazaki". Through the meeting I have learned that decision making is not easy and we need to include all the people involve (stakeholders, government officials and local communities). Another experience I could not forget was the "Dragonfly Pond" activity. This task had given us the chance to work in group and to develop a sustainable area of our own. Overall, DYEA has given me a lot of opportunities, knowledge and awareness in terms of environmental issues. Most importantly, I would really love to share it to my local countries. I hope future DYEA Participants will also feel and gain the same experiences that I have.

Learning from DYEA
DYEA-2009 is a unique program. DYEA gave me an extraordinary chance to understand the principle of sustainability in a dynamic world. With the great educational and field trip experiences, DYEA inspire me to be creative thinking about local, regional, and global on sustainable development issue. I learned how to enjoy nature, love nature and protect the nature and I realize even more that: I must be the change that I wish to see in the world.

Learning from DYEA
I must be the change that I wish to see in the world.
I have always been dreaming of someday I could climb mount Fuji - the symbol of Japan.
I have been nurturing a hope to meet my Japanese friends in their country.
I have long been waiting for a chance to wear Kimono for once in my life…
DYEA made all these dreams come true and much more than that. Never in my life have I become that close to the nature: feel it, enjoy it and come to realize the significance of it. Living in a wooden house in the middle of a vast grassland with spectacular Fuji-san in front of us; having lunch at the height of 2900m on Mt Fuji; drinking the water directly from Lake Biwa - the largest freshwater lake in Japan - all of that still seem like a dream for me! DYEA is not only a great school where we could learn about the nature, share environmental issues but also a big international family for all the participants. In that family there's laugh, there's smile, there's even tear but it doesn't matter since there's love, there's care and there's share as well. I myself feel honored to be a part of this family and I will keep all the unforgettable memories in my heart for life.

Learning from DYEA
It was very special opportunity for me. I thought I want to do something to solve environmental problems but I don't know how to do. Through DYEA, I learned a simple but humanistic rule: enjoying the nature and when you love nature, you can know how to save the nature. And also, all the participants and staffs are always there, behind me. I was encouraged by all their enthusiasm and knowledge and felt very happy to talk more, listen more and cooperate in the future for a better world.
By a lot of stories from Japanese people we met, by making and presenting Action plan during DYEA, I realized that the best way to make your intention into practice is to try thinking from different points of views from others and then cooperate with them. You could not do alone, you should not be alone.

Learning from DYEA
Hi all!
I am Anindya Novitasari Dinarta (Anind). I come from Purworejo, Central Java, Indonesia. Now, I have graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada majoring on Industrial Engineering. It is a really amazing prize to get a chance to be DYEA "nature" family 2009. I call it as family because it is what it is ^_^ It really enriches the way of thinking to meet great friends from really different background in this event. We learn about nature, but it is not like "study". We come to nature, then nature teaches us by itself. Experiencing a lot in mount Fuji (I love Fujiiii!!), Lake Biwa & its museum, Lake Hayazaki, spring, Oki island and Denso industry area makes us feel that we are a part of nature in truth. Although at the first time, I am not good in environmental theory & issue, DYEA is success to make me really understand the relation should be maintained between me and nature in nice way. We are so excited to try to do something for our environment. I hope now & in the future, we and DYEA can be a good mate for our earth

Learning from DYEA
Being part of DYEA have lit my spirit that was at weakened state, tiring university life and people negative response have made my care for environment became less and less smaller as time goes by. But after joining the program I have found my long lost passion, the spirit to protect environment and share what I know, after this I promise to my selves just like Japanese people protect their land till their grew old and die, I will do that with all my power and mind till my time came also.
Other than the knowledge, I also found one-in-a-million and very precious companions that share the same passion. We learn and do everything the fun way. DYEA is the best program you could wish for environmental activities, experienced tutor, unique activities, tasty, not to mention you'd be able to experience Japan from a different side.

Learning from DYEA
Konichiwa! I want to share a little inspiration I had after joining DYEA. This program is obviously one of a kind. I am convinced there are no youth event that successfully combined lectures, site visit, home stay, group discussion, action plan making, presentation, solid friendship, and strong passion for the environment, like DYEA.
DYEA is definitely the place for you to learn, to experience, to share, and to implement. Don't ever think this program is only for radical environmentalists. DYEA is reserved for young people like me and you with high awareness about the environment and commitment to act for a better world. Trust me, if you think this is hard, don't get intimidated because DYEA will fully support you. We have peer support, great mentors, experienced speakers, and well tailored schedule that will guarantee your comprehension to the fullest.
For DYEA 2009 I was the only participant studying Law as my major. It struck me as intimidating at first because all of us come from different background. But university major is the only difference we had because after spending 3 days at the Pre-Training in Bangkok we knew we are going to be best friends. Thank you DENSO CORPORATION JAPAN, your CSR project is a success. Salute!

Learning from DYEA
Denso Youth for Earth Action has peeled off the crust over my eyes and opened them to a beautiful world beyond my comfort zone. Climbing Mt. Fuji, I can feel and touch the virgin soil that nurtures life; Living with the villagers of Yuno, I can see first-hand how the Japanese live sustainably. Designing my very own action plan for the Earth, I see how things work from another perspective. I am greatly enriched by this programme and the amazing friends I have made will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Learning from DYEA
With the recent heightened awareness about environmental issues and reports on climate changes around the world, it has become all the more critical for youths like us to understand both the seriousness and the impact of the situation on life on Earth. DYEA brought me closer to appreciating what nature has given us through a first-hand immersion experience. What i've gained from DYEA is invaluable: good friends from all around asia; life skills of critical thinking and planning things into action; interaction and learning from inspiring environmental tutors. The experience simply exceeds what could be put into pure words-- you have to experience it yourself. Be part of the new movement, be part of the sustainable action.
