Learning from DYEA
I learned the social action had lots of variability through DYEA. I have felt one of environmental activities not only the activity of NPO which purify water in Lake Biwa, but also engineers who develop energy-efficient engine in DENSO. It is difficult for us to make extra time to conduct environmental activities. However, each of us becomes more aware of environment, and I learned we could sustainably realize social actions through my work.
Current Situation(Environmental activities besides your AP and changes in attitude from DYEA)
I reconsidered the environmental activities were special works for NGO/NPO through DYEA. Now, I am working in government-affiliated financial institution, aiming at contributing to society through my work. Thanks to participants in Asian countries that I have ever seen in DYEA, I expanded my mind on framework of social problems from home to abroad. I would like to build an environmentally-friendly system for global companies through financial technologies in the future.

Learning from DYEA
Sustainable is a major issue in today's world. Some realize, some not. From DYEA, I learned that to achive our goal, it's never easy. With only us, it couldn't happen. Many characters take part in the story and together, we all have to cooperate. What is most important is to start. With so start, it means nothing. Even with a small start like influences on your family members or friends for something, to me it'S good enough. I never foget this memorable quote from DYEA, to "Start small, but aims high".

| Conducted with whom | Members and volunteers of GUI, and visitors of Bottle Tree Park |
| Number of participants | 10-50 people |
| Achievement /impression | Currently working hand-in-hand with GUI on several composting-related projects. The founder, Mr. Tay Lai Hock, is kind in offering the space, logistics and skilled personnel at the headquarters in the Bottle Tree Park. I was one of the facilitators for Project Greenbins (a collaboration with the NUS Environmental Science and Engineering Students Club), which allowed students to design and build bins and infrastructure of a composting site, as well as to develop educational materials to promote waste-composting to the public. I have also conducted both formal and informal composting workshops to the public, especially on Earth Day Singapore 2011. I was blessed to meet Mr. Solvere Lim (an inventor), and together with a team from GUI, we are now prototyping vermicomposting systems for both household and commercial purposes. After which, we may put together an integrated waste system that is in tuned with the organic farming efforts of GUI. |

Learning from DYEA
DYEA inspired me to love and feel the environment so I can whole heartedly help in preserving it. I learned that cooperation with other groups or people can make every project successful; and that is very true. We are not alone in our quest to bring back the beauty of nature so we must ask help from others to make every move possible and lighter.
Current Situation(Environmental activities besides your AP and changes in attitude from DYEA)

| Title | EPAC (Evoke personality, accelerate change) |
|---|---|
| Activities | My former workplace, the American Center Hanoi, is a culture promoting center which holds lots of public events like Debate club, Speaker program, Exibition, … It greets nearly 3000 patrons a month, mostly youngsters. Therefore, my AP focused on integrating the environmental issues in these events. In my time of working here, I have joined, scheduled and assisted quite a few environmental events with my collegues. Some succussesful events can be recalled as: the English writing contest on environment and the environmental month of April 2011. During April, we hosted the Speaker Program, American English club, Debate club and Film show targeting in environmental issues. The AP was expected to raise the consciousness of patrons about the necessity of environment protection |
| Cooperators | Interns and Staff at the American Center Hanoi |
| Conducted with whom | October 2010 to April 2011, The American Center Hanoi - U.S Embassy Hanoi |
| Number of participants | Over 100 people |
| Achievement /impression | I felt so happy to see the consciousness of environment protection blooming at the American Center. This is a very effective place to raise environmental awareness as so many people coming there for studying and meeting others. Most of them are very young and eager to absorb new ideas. During my time there, I met and talked to many people who really wanted to broaden their knowledge, and sincerely wanted to protect the environment. However, they were lacking of guide and stimulation. Better late than never! Even though my Action Plan was small-scaled, it did fire the excitement and willingness to take action in people; and creat an active, socially responsible and pioneering image for the Center. |
Learning from DYEA
Participating in DYEA was the best gift for my twenty, the age of growing up in my country. Before joining the program, I had lots of ideas, however, did not know how to make them true. The facilitators and participants themselves taught me to overcome my timidity and ready to make changes. I learnt that changes started from the most familiar and simplest things. So I no longer that my AP was so small-scaled, as I know, one day they would be very great change. As long as you keep faith, what you want will be yours. Another thing is cooperate with others. The journey will be more interesting and challenges will be less difficult. What I learned from DYEA will be the firm base for all my life.
